My New Favorite Flower

I saw these a few weeks ago on an interior design website and they've become my new favorite flower...sorry daisies. They're called Craspedia and are really cool, they're also called Billy Balls or Billy Buttons.

Never Watch the Human Centipede

Scariest, creepiest, most low budget movie ever, never watch this movie.....cringe just thinking about it, only made it through the first 20 minutes.

Seriously. This especially goes out to Michelle, don't ever watch this girl.

My New Journal

So I didn't do my usual shop til you drop Black Friday shopping, but I did still manage to do a little shopping at the outlet mall near my grandma's house. I found this really great notebook that has different styles of Eames chairs on the cover and a book called Simply Upholstery that shows you how to reupholster chairs for a mere $10. So I'm going to be completely dorky and just go on about how much I love both of these books, I can't wait to try out some of this upholstery stuff. There's these two chairs that are in my living room, I got them from the hotel when they remodeled and they have a great shape but I really hate the fabric. I'm thinking of doing a mustard tweed or a great fabric pattern in gray, navy, or mustard yellow.

*Also, I made the Black Bottom Cupcakes and they were a success and pretty delish if I do say so myself. I'll post some pics of them later.

Road Trippin and all things Thanksgiving

I'm super stoked that Thanksgiving is almost here, especially since one of my besties is going with me to West Virginia to dine with the fam. A lot of people say that driving and riding long distances bothers them, but I've always been a huge huge fan of the road trip, especially if I'm driving. I bring my worst, most cheesy songs along and belt them out in a voice that I reserve for when I'm alone and far away from human ears. I do some of my best creative thinking when I'm in the car (and some daydreaming as well) which probably distracts me a little bit from you know being a safe driver and all that jazz but hey I make it there in one piece.

I'm also really excited for Thanksgiving this year, lately I've been missing my family like crazy and I can't wait to see them! Also, it'll be a lot of fun to introduce Michelle to everybody and to eat all that delish food. Every year, my family like many others, goes around the table and has everyone say what they're thankful for and this year my list is this:

I'm thankful for my baby David, my family, my friends, that I'm almost done with school, and that no matter what we all get together and celebrate every Thanksgiving as a a family. The End.

Sushi, my love

So this weekend, I went to Gainesville, Fl with David and his family for the AppState vs. Florida game (we got slaughtered in case you didn't know...which is expected since we're in a much much lower division). We saw about 6 alligators total, on campus I might add. We didn't really do much in Florida except go to the game and go bowling in the student union with David's cousins, but it was fun and I got to meet some more of his family members. Buuuut the best part had to be the sushi I got when we got back to Charlotte. One of the best places to get sushi (in my humble opinion) is New Zealand Cafe it's on Sardis Rd, it's delicious and best of all it's cheap. I got the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Shrimp Tempera Roll with spicy mayo so 16 pieces for around $10. The Philly Roll is also really good there, also they give you a free meal on your birthday which doesn't include sushi, but it does include hibachi chicken and stuff like that. Sadly we weren't in Charlotte for very long so I didn't get to get my Target fix, but hopefully I'll take care of that over Thanksgiving Break. I'll put some pics from Florida up later!

Grey Gardens

Last summer, I watched the original Grey Gardens documentary and I thought it was amazing. So sad that they wasted in isolation in that house, but also incredible what amazing eccentric people both Big and Little Edie were. Little Edie especially with her turbans and headwraps to cover her lack of hair due to alopecia, her clever quips, her dancing and her really stylish outfits. I just found her really mesmerizing and very entertaining.

Today I bought the HBO movie version of Grey Gardens and I have to say it made me feel even more sad about her situation. Being scared of rejection and heartbreak to the point of completely isolating herself. Having a mother who was so afraid to be alone that she manipulated her daughter and kept her from living a life of her own. Still they seemed rather happy for two people who were isolated from the "real" world. I'm not saying I'm going to become a hermit, but I do sometimes think of how fun it would be to drop out of school and live in a house in the woods isolated from everything. Growing my own food and making my own clothes. Anyhow, both movies are great and I highly recommend them. Drew Barrymore is spot on as Little Edie and I feel very inspired by the clothing from both movies.

Interior Design Mash-Up

I'm ready to get the hell out of dodge...or to be a little more precise Boone, NC. I graduate in May and my main goals now are: internship, job, house (to rent, not own). Since there's not a whole lot to report on the job/internship front, I thought I'd post some pics of some of my favorite decorating and design photos and some items that I just think are cool in a little thing I like to call a Interior Design Mash-Up. Anywayz, here they are: (and I know I already posted the green and yellow kitchen set-up, but hey what can i say its my favorite)

higher education...figured it out

So finally after almost four years of college, I've figured this ish out. I'm seriously awful at Science...awful...and unfortunately thanks for the brilliant idea that every student should be a "well rounded individual", I had to take Astronomy and Geology, both of which I barely made it out of with a C+. And the C+ was only because of some very generous curves to my exam grades. So when I found out that I had to take another Geology class because I hadn't taken the lab component....I was a little pissed. Of course I zone out in class everyday either doodling, making to-do lists, or blogging if I have my laptop. So needless to say I wasn't shocked when I got a 75 on the first exam. The second exam I studied a lot more for but it seemed really hard....so I was very shocked to find out that I got a 101...which is weird since there was no extra credit, but I'm not arguing. Even if it was a typo I'm thinking that fate wanted me to get a 101 and actually make a respectable grade in Science for once. I had another test Monday and after seeing that I made an 88 on that one, I'm going to just say that after four years I've finally figured this college stuff out.

It goes a little something like this:
Go to class, zone out, cram for the test, take the test, forget everything, repeat.

Yea...I'm ready to graduate like woah.

Color Schemes

This was a bar that was redone on designspongeonline.com and I really loved the rich color combination. The lights are also really cool and have a great retro look to them. I thought it was a great picture for not only interior design inspiration but also color inspiration. For my textile class, we had to paint the thread on our looms in two starkly contrasting colors, so I did a light mustard yellow and an emerald green which was inspired by this picture. The picture of my weaving is just done with photobooth because I took it when I didn't have a digital camera. I'll take a new picture of it with my new digital camera (big shout out to David for my anniversary gift).

I really want to try this....

This is my first post on the new blog, I used to have a Wordpress blog, but they don't let you use AdSense and most people I know are on blogger. So basically I'm switching to Blogger and here's my first post.
I found this on a craft site the other day and I really really want to try it, probably with the help of my handy dandy stepfather who actually knows how to do that sort of thing. I rent a crappy college apartment, so I don't think I'm going to try making a counter, but I do have a trunk that could use some spicing up, so I might try to make a penny top on it. It seems like a really cool alternative to a normal counter top and I would love to do it to my own kitchen when I'm not renting anymore. I saw another cool countertop option on hgtv, they made a frame and covered the top of the bar with river rocks and then poured resin over it (which is a lot like what they do with the penny countertop). Anyways, thought these were great ideas!
